From the Publisher:
Simone Demandt: Turn Round is a survey of the photographer’s
works and series from 2002 to 2009. Simone Demandt (*1959 in Dortmund)
is not concerned with reproducing reality with her camera, but
rather, she is interested in conceiving photographic images that
take aim at the social, political, and individual spheres of each
viewer, from whose perspective the process of understanding occurs.
To her, photography is not about preservation, storage, agreement,
or recognition. Instead, it is for questioning and creating doubt;
it is about examining the fathomless. This approach implies the
usage of a multiplicity of techniques, which can be seen the intriguing
groups of Demandt’s works, presented in this volume.
