From the Publisher:
Hidden Depths—a collection of the finest stereo
photographs of Jacques Henri Lartigue
Jacques Henri Lartigue was one of
the greatest photographers of the 20th century. His work has been
widely reproduced, with over fifty monographs, and exhibitions
in major galleries throughout the world. His finest photographs
are iconic images—the snapshots of a brilliant amateur intent
on capturing every glittering instant of a glamorous life.
Few people realise, however, that many of his
most famous photographs have literally been cut in half for printing.
These photographs were originally taken in stereo (also known
as 3D) which requires a pair of images to work effectively. When
properly reproduced, using both images, they show all the depth
of the original scene.
Until now, only Lartigue and his immediate family
had ever seen these photographs in their original form. Now, at
last, Design for Life is publishing a superb quality limited edition
set of one hundred of his finest stereo photographs with an accompanying
booklet and stereo viewer. This work is an essential purchase
for anybody with an interest in the history of photography, but
if you just want to catch a glimpse of the life of the rich and
famous in belle époque France—the dawn of aviation
and the automobile, the glamour of the stage or a day at the races,
the first winter sports—there is no better means.
